I’ve been meaning to do something for extra income, I thought of putting some programming tutorials up on YouTube and making ad money or maybe sell a small course on udemy. But Salesforce is apparently very strict about you doing anything outside the company. Are most places like this?
If u are just doing tutorials i dont see why they would restrict you. I wouldnt even bother to tell them. Let them discover.
Just email hr about moonlighting and try to get approval in writing.
Did you contact legal and asked them about it? Maybe it’s not legal but there is a department you can ping and they will say yes or no depending on what you want to do
I’m scared to do it because I’m wondering if it’s better to just not say anything and just do it. Coworker told me likelihood of them approving would be very low
Why the fuck should a company bother you doing your side projects in your free time? Can someone enlighten me?
Because company paying you boatload of money and they want you to dedicate all your mental power to the company and relax and recharge during your free time. Also, there is concern that you might use inside knowledge for you project. Etc etc
Lol ask them to fuck off. As long as you deliver it should be fine
salesforce is not strict unless you go and start telling everyone around you that you’re building a competing product
You have personal experience with this? Care to share an example of that?
Amazon is pretty good about that
You mean they allow?
Yeah
