Ops person, who doesnāt much about business and nothing about technology, just called me ( a senior software developer ) āTech Supportā and Iām like š¤¬. You woundnāt call an MD āa Nurseā cause they did a few things that fits the job desc of a Nurse ... I know all hard working jobs are respectable ...... but Iāve worked hard to be where I am ... Is it too much to expect people to have basic decency and consideration ? Tired of being treated as a second class citizen when developers make it possible for traders/ ops to do their job faster, better and make a sh*t load of money. TC - 160k
You sound angry. Never had this happen to me, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care. Also isn't it ironic that your nickname is fuckFANG?
You wouldnāt care because it didnāt happen to you buddy ... Easier to act holier than thou when things are hypothetical...
Yes you have such a tough life that only other mislabeled people can relate. I wonder who will play you in the movie?
Or you can realize they are ignorant of the industry and keep living your happy life.
That's 2 engineers from BlackRock who said the same thing. Seems like a culture problem
Not at BlackRock anymore but wouldnāt say thatās not how things are there .... most if not all wall st firms have this problem
Yea this is why I wouldn't ever join finance as a dev, you're a second class citizen. That stupid ass firm Selby Jennings couldn't get that through their heads when I told them why I wasnt interested.
Funny, nurses do more meaningful work than doctors. Talk about hypocritical.
Umm nurses donāt fix your heart valve or remove the tumor in your brain .... PS - Didnāt say nurses donāt do meaningful work
Nurses do literally everything else besides hold the knife. Seriously, do some research. You react to "tech support" like it's beneath you, so your comparison doesn't hold. Someone really needs to check their privilege here. Understanding and helping humans use technology is far harder than software development and computer science. Source: MS in HCI
1) get over yourself. Youāve just received a datapoint about the world, and you shouldnāt let it ruin your day, Picasso 2) what you experienced is common when you are a software person working for a company that doesnāt make software as its own main product. Itās not just fin tech. It happens at illumina and every other biotech company as well. And many companies that used to be run by engineers and are now several decades taken over by bean counters. Donāt take it personally. If your company is run by Wall Street types, MBA types, even chemists....few people in your leadership pyramid understand much of what you do, and you are not working on the most important stuff the board of directors thinks it cares about.
Iāve never had this problem
Well then the culture at Affirm is better
Same here man done with the shit here.. feel like leaving
I hear you ... although Iām not at BlackRock anymore
