ADT is such an A-Hole company. They secretly asked me to sign a 3-year contract while telling me it's 2-year. They secretly increased monthly payment without any notification or acknowledgement. And you know what? If you want to cancel, you need to pay majority of the unpaid payments till your contract ends. Don't use ADT. There are many alternative. Ring has security kit that you can just install yourself and connect to Alexa. I personally will go this approach. Question though, adt is charging me monthly through my credit card. Can I ask my credit card bank to refuse any payments from ADT onwards? Would this work? In theory they did not follow the constant pricing stated in the contract and I should be able to take advantage of that and cancel it with no penalty. Seriously asking for advice. I would start by looking at the contract. Usually a contract locks in the rate for the duration. I’m a bit surprised they can change it mid contract. Have you called them to tell them you want out and faulting them for misleading you? They should have records. From there if you’re unsuccessful, you could submit a BBB complaint. You could cancel the card, but the you’re still bound by the contract, so they could come after you. Just depends on whether or not they decide to.
they knew exactly that they increased the price. i asked friend and confirmed the same thing happened to him as well. if you are using adt, keep an eye on your monthly payment. but yes, good idea that i will cancel the card.
Bbb is useless. Companies are expected to buy their way in. In fact if I see a company bragging about their BBB then it's an instant red flag for me
You can ask for a new credit card with a new number. Simple.
They report it to your credit if you break the contract so it’s not that simple.
What is adt?
