Joined Samsung Research, Mountain View 2 years back. Worst decision I ever made. I had two other offers when I took this job. Both paying way more (one offer was from a FANG). I took Samsung offer because I liked the team even though TC was much lower. After the sign-on bonus expired, they didn’t increase my TC even though I performed above average level on review. I was severely demotivated because my TC wasn’t low, it was very poor. Fortunately I got a few offers including one from a FANG company. I just resigned and leaving Samsung soon. Current TC: 210k New TC: 292k
Next you will tell us that the sky is blue?
I heard you but you gave us only what we already know. It's called growing pain. Take your lessons and congratulations on your new job!
yoe? Care to share what discipline and project?
Thanks for the enlightenment.
Samsung Director of data science in phones division resigned within a year if I remember correctly because he thinks company sucks big time.
LOL 2 years back? If it's the worst decision what made you be there that long. Masochist?
I started looking for job post 1 year when I realized they just want to lowball employees. Preparing takes time and job search moves slowly.
Having FANG offer, but decline and accept Samsung for lesser pay? Something doesn’t quiet add up
I did do that. It was an Amazon offer @ 263k. Samsung offer was 228k including sign on. It came a bit late but I didn’t join Samsung. Could have said no to Samsung still. I wasn’t very TC focused at that point and really liked the team I was going to join at Samsung.
Samsung GPU/SARC?
Was this in US, or Korean office (or other)?
Mountain View.
Thanks for clarifying. Good luck at the new company, although keep in mind promo also depends on team & politics even at FANG.
