Down 30% in Robinhood

Anyone else in similar situation? Started around 2017 end/2018 start. I've invested >50k in stocks (mostly individual), ended up selecting some bad stocks, buying at high and now some are near to their 52wk lows. Some of those stocks :- IQ, NIO, PBT, CHK Recently started options trading, been okay so far. Made more than i lost in options.

Penny stocks are dangerous. You don’t want to hold positions for too long.

Except for CHK, others were not the penny stocks when I invested in those. :P

Be very wary of penny stocks and those who advise you to even touch them. There are better ways to trade if you want to do something a bit more leveraged.

Just put it all in VTSAX. you'll never beat the market making individual trades.

The fact that I don’t recognize those symbols is somewhat telling. Index funds, friend.

I scan the market using think or swim, find a rocket to get on and off for a few minutes only. You cannot predict penny stocks as they bears/shorts love to rape people like you

You’re officially the first person I’ve seen down in this market who wasn’t trying to trade on their own.

I know right..

Robinhood is quite awful for options. That being said I'm up quite a bit this year from options trading with my play money using a different platform :) Also why did you select any of those companies, what was your criteria?

PBT is an oil related company with good dividend yield. IQ (netflix of china) shot up quickly after ipo, got in around 30s. (Same with NIO). None of them seem to work out. Have to start afresh i guess :P

I understand now. Back during the trade war many of the Chinese stocks were underpriced, but only those which had international exposure. Stay open to international companies (politics can be a good gamble) but definitely understand their valuation relative to their competitors and where they fit into a market. I made a significant amount this year seeing a Chinese company reach a price closer to a fair value after many weeks/months.

ASLN rocketed past 100% in 10 minutes. On and off for 2 minutes that’s all you need

Do this Go to Zacks - Yahoo finance follows it for daily reports. See if u r a bull or a bear. I follow BullOfTheDay Zacks has a very good analyst, find yours and follow. Don't pull out money if the stock falls, wait and it will climb back in two-three months. China trade war had huge impact but things are getting better

Twitch Vys730f Nov 30, 2019

Not sure if it will get better though. Geopolitical risks like hk may put a huge dent in trade talks.

Yeah I'm aware of the volatility in options. Just putting in bits and pieces. Not a substantial amount in options. Some of the stocks I've been in options for are Cisco, intel, Microsoft, nokia, bynd, roku, iq, nio, LK
