Folks at Netflix, are you optimistic about your org?

Out of FANG, I always found Netflix to be the outlier. It has a great streaming service, amazing folks who know what they’re building but purely as a business, it makes me uncomfortable that it is just another streaming company.

All other companies in FANG have a diverse portfolio of stuff they sell, but Netflix majorly relies on streaming so far. What makes you excited about it? - work, culture, pay, etc?

    >great streaming service
    Very debatable.
My rule of thumb is that a paid service should provide better experience than just pirating everything, and Netflix is pretty far from meeting this bar.

There are tons of bad (for the customer) business driven decisions, though, where the engineers had nothing to say.
For example, whenever I open the app, something immediately starts autoplaying. For me, this is a reason enough to unsubscribe. Nothing is autoplaying on rarbg.

You can turn off autoplay if you don't like it

Fang was coined in 2012 as a finance term and Netflix was the best performing sp500 stock in the 2010s, more than deserving. If you are talking about market cap, yes, Netflix is much smaller but that also means it has much more upside. No other Fang plans to double users in a decade. Unless you are the founder, you don't care about the absolute market cap, you care about its growth
