Drive to Louisiana

My wife wants to go to Louisiana this summer— to visit family. I have the following options. A) fly, then rent cars and hotels (8,000) B) rent an RV and drive (10,000) C) buy a Toyota land cruiser and a canned ham and drive (100k, total; 6,000 upfront) I have 2 dogs, and three kids. I have 2.5 weeks of vacation. TC: 322 YOE: 6

Man, do not go in the summer. Louisiana has a lot of southern charm but it is a pit there in june. Creole food is great. Also, creoles were/are cowboys and some still ride. Bit odd to think about given the usual cowboy image of a white dude.

I’m from Houston. I’m okay with going there in the summer.

Rent a 7 passenger van and stay in hotels Waaaaay less than $10k and easier to drive around town than the rv

And it's only a 8-10 hour drive from Houston to almost anywhere in Louisiana.
