Dropbox IC3 to IC4 factors
Recently joined Dropbox at IC3 TC 340k YOE 9 SWE role, location Seattle Q1. How long does it take to go from IC3 to IC4 with good performance (like 3~4 ratings) ? Q2. My base is at 217k which I heard is pretty high for IC3, so I was wondering how much increase in base should I expect yearly and on promo to IC4? Q3. Very important, recruiter told me refreshers are like 1/3rd to 1/2 of initial grant. That brings my 1/3rd refresher to 180k on meet expectations, that sounds too good to be true. Average IC3 refresher is more like 100k I think

Yes your recruiter lied. You’re not going to get 1/3 of your initial grant.
Amazon folks are surprised by any non-zero refreshers! Been there mate. The first year at Apple, I was surprised when I got my refreshers, bonus and annual base raise too.

I was like "too good to be true". And then I see people complain about 150k being too low!!
Annual base raise is ~5%. My refresh last year was 220K (4 rating + promo). IC3 -> IC4 is extremely tough. Every promo cycle I see probably 10 folks getting it.
5% increase every year sounds good without promo, but 1/3rd of joining stocks as refreshers doesn’t sound true. How were your previous refreshers? And what was your joining grant? Was it 1/3rd of joining grant every year?
My initial grant was 400
about the promo: go to workday, check out paybands for IC3, see where you stand (beginning, middle, upper), if not upper, the promo chances would be smaller IMHO
If you are in the Seattle office, IC3 to IC4 is never gonna happen.

Don’t believe that guy. I got promo to IC4 in NYC which is an even smaller office than Seattle.
IC4 is probably impossible if you’re not getting 4 perf rating.

Are the refreshers different for ppl in same level? Since you said it is based on initial stock grant. That's really high.
