Hi, In May 2021, I landed an internship at a really good startup that I like. The contract said the internship was going to be for 6 months. However the team lead liked my performance and want to convert my internship role as a full time software engineer role till August.(still in my Final year of college). My team lead asked if it is okay for your college to join as a full time role. I talked with my HOD(head of the department), he told me you cannot join as a full time employee as you are a full time student now. The college that I go to doesnt even have good college placements (only Infosys and TCS comes). I am getting to learn a lot at my current startup 1-) we are at scaling stage 2-) Learning at a really fast pace and loving it I am thinking about dropping out of college and never looking back. I need some advice pls help ๐ PS: I also have Disney Interview lined up :)
Don't do that mistake. Your college should be ending soon. Just ask the startup to delay. Right now college degree might seem useless (and it is) but not having one will disqualify you from a lot of opportunities.
Thanks I'll keep this in mind
I agree with this. Look at most of the job description for companies. They ask for some sort of degree. However, useless it may seem now, it will be probably useful in the future. You donโt want to get filtered out because you do not have a degree.

Office Use for Studying on Holidays: Is It Allowed?
How many months are left in your last year? Can't you get the startup to delay the offer by those many months? Imo get the degree ( no matter how shitty college might be)
*) 10 months still remaining. *) I can easily delay the offer and work as a part time, but I am blinded by the money
Just consider this : you will be degreeless your entire career life. Degree comes at an opportunity cost of 10months of ur salary. You have your entire life ahead to work and earn money. Don't be short sighted. You may never know how future market might look like. You could very well be rejected from all places you apply on account of being degreeless.
