Is it worth taking BMW warranty?

My car's company warranty is about to expire. Just wondering if it is worth buying a warranty now. Has anyone done some research?

  • I didn’t because that warranty was kinda bullshit... electric not covered, other exclusions that present the most problems imho. Maybe that’s changed now.

I had a third-party warranty. Usually they don't cover everything, so many of my repairs were not covered. But after 2 years I sold the car and got a refund for the warranty. Warranty was like 2k for 2 years, but they covered 15k+. BMWs...

Are the Fords here finally decent? (Fix Or Repair Daily). Their worldwide cars were much better than the shit they sold here.

I find the same service as I do at mb. Just way cheaper. Sure the lounge at mb has everything but I could care less about that.

What does it cover? I remember paying nothing for the first 40k miles or something. Then the maintenance costs hit. Oil service is ~200. Brakes for my suv needed to be replaced each year (front brakes & rear brakes alternating) at ~1k. Spark plugs at 100k is ~1k. Alternator is another 1k. It’s a steady stream of 2k per year maintenance cost. I miss owning a Japanese import.

So if the extended warranty covers service, brakes, and small engine parts then maybe it’s worth it.

BMW X5 brakes apparently. The fuckers are soft as butter and it’s a heavy vehicle, which require more energy to brake. I drive like a sane person. But these brake pads wearing down ever 2 years is just infuriating. My other compact Toyota didn’t get new brakes for 7 years.

You mean the warranty which covers the next 3 years (after the initial 4 years)?
