I think you do if you do consulting early in your career. Later in your career you need to be an industry / functional expert which can be hard to get in consulting. I think it teaches communication skills and interaction with leadership that you wouldn't have access to as a junior member of F500 company.

  Agreed. It's one of the few jobs that provides broad exposure and teaches really useful business skills right out of undergrad.

Ya consulting is the ultimate boot camp for professional life. You learn a lot of transferable skills that they don’t teach in school. It’s helped me be a better PM.
