I’ve met a hiring manager I like and he’s cool af. Likely had a mustang and a mullet in the 80s. I pinged him and haven’t heard back and it’s been two days. What’s the process? Do I just wait for him to get back to me? I’ve heard never hit the apply button till the offer is finalized. Any tips on internal interviewing, guessing he didn’t just ghost me and is tied up with the week???? Do I need to study lps again or is it just informal easy questions? I’m overqualified for the job im trying to switch into, and also my current manager is horrrrrrriiibbblee. I’ve only been at Amazon for only two weeks but I know I need to be in another team.

You don’t have to stay in that original team for any period of time. The manager you would like to work with should initiate next steps, which would be you formally applying to their role, if they’re ready to commit. You are correct to ping them directly, they really do need to give you an answer of whether they will move forward or not sooner than later so you can find another HM if needed.

Also, the reason it might be taking a longer time for them to answer- they may be weighing the risks. Other internal transfers that are more tenured are usually considered to have fewer risks since they have proven themselves.

Good feedback and point on risk, I had one hm not even respond to me so I suspect he wasn’t interested in someone who just joined. At least a no thanks would’ve been nice instead of full ignore but guess that just tells me to avoid in future.

Generally you have to stay in a job for a minimum amount of time, it used to be 90 days. Lots of info on transfers on inside Amazon. Just know your manager will get notified once you officially apply.
