About to start the interview loop with Dropbox. Would really appreciate it if anybody from Dropbox can shed some light? 1. How's the morale in the company now? 2. WLB? Heard it's really good what's the average hour per week? 3. Career growth. How hard to get to staff? Average year from senior to staff? 4. Does Dropbox pay by location? If yes what's the TC for MCOL city (e.g. Austin) 5. How hard is the interview for senior Thank you! 5 YOE 300K
IC3 top of band in Austin would be near 400 with a signing bonus.
Do you get top of the band offer by using competing offers or just interview performance?
Both. Competing offers with bad interview performance won’t get you to top of band, nor good performance with no competing offers
1. Think it’s generally good. I’m happy. 2. Team/org dependent; eg I think wlb is better in core than growth, anecdotally 3. Not sure but I’ve heard career growth is pretty slow here. 4. Yes pay by location, Austin is tier-2 whereas tier-1 is like 100mi of Seattle, NYC or SF. Outside the same radius of Austin metro in Texas is tier-3. 5. Interview isn’t terribly hard, but it will throw LC grinders for a loop

For interviews I heard concurrency is asked. Is this true?
Base in Austin will be 10% less than same role in SF. Generally a good place to work. Good WLB.
How about RSUs and refreshers?
Ex-G here. Joined a year back in Seattle at $430k TC IC3 (L5 at G $330k TC) 9 yoe Love it here so far and already on track for promo to IC4 in 6 months. Great work (Core Dropbox) Amazing team mates WLB pretty similar to G (maybe even better) Career Growth -> coming from G any place is going to be faster 🤣 Only Con: Stock performance avg. specially given last years G stocks. But pay here is definitely higher than G (target pay)
Wow! Sounds awesome. What's the TC breakdown How hard were the interviews?
Dropbox is focused on real problem solving skills (similar to G) so coding were from the github repo but very in-details discussions. Design interviews pretty similar to G. Dive Deep is unique is really a good way to use your past experience to outperform compared to others. Culture is VERY VERY IMPORTANT here so make sure to show how great of a team player you are. To me difficulty level wise: (based on personal experience) Dropbox >= G > Twitter/Uber > Facebook > Apple >>>> Microsoft/Amazon
Left 2 weeks ago. Great wlb. Good money. No career growth. Dead company and a sinking ship in my opinion. Great place to rest and vest. Avoid otherwise.

No the other way around. Left Amazon for dropbox. Did have good time there. Recharged and refreshed. I have all good things to say about wlb about dropbox.
