New to blind and some of the stuff I see here is batshit crazy. People assume the absolute worst out of everyone else - “oooo your manager will PIP you right before your transfer, even if your are TT.” “Oooo you spoke back to them? You’re PIPed.”
Do y’all not realize just how much paperwork, and months of evidence is required to put someone in dev plan? It’s not a button you click. It’s literally months of documents. there are folks who literally don’t show up to work but we still have to go through an almost 6 month long process before they leave or are legit fired.
How do so many people live in so much constant fear? Most of you aren’t bad at your work and will likely never be PIped. I’ve been at Amazon since 2016 and learnt about the phenomenon since joining Blind a few months back. Spoke to my SDM who’s been here longer than even I have. He showed me some examples. I’d Literally never encountered a PIP story ever before this. Real poor coders often didn’t stay long in any of my teams, I assumed they left themselves because it obviously wasn’t a fit. Ofcourse those exits could be PIP, but mighty rare and can’t think of a single decent coder we lost to PIP. I’m in AWS
