Hi all,
I recently interviewed at Facebook, London. In the phone screen, I got the optimal solutions for two coding problems and implemented them.
I was invited to onsite. I thought that I got the optimal solution for 3 coding problems, and a sub-optimal non-brute force solution to the fourth problem. I thought I did fairly well on behavioural and system design interviews.
I got a call from the recruiter a week later saying feedback was mixed, and that I’ve done really well on system design and behavioural, but one of the interviewers said I couldn’t solve a coding problem. I think he was the most junior interviewer and I found it interesting since I was interviewing for a level 5 role and he was a recent graduate, but maybe Facebook doesn’t have a same-level-or-above interviewer policy.
I’m fairly confident I came up with the optimal solution for at least 3 out of 4, and after a google search, the solution I came up with for the 4th was the most optimal I was able to find online contrary to my previous belief.
Recruiter suggested I go for an additional coding interview, and I understand where the recruiter is coming from, but it’s a bit frustrating getting that feedback knowing I’ve done really well. What are your thoughts? Should I go for that additional coding interview, or push back and ask for a decision to be made after a team/committee review the detailed interview feedback?
