My friend is from small company he doesn't want to post here. He has cleared Amazon's online test and is scheduled for online final round (onsite) but recruiter also scheduled 'interview preparation session' and wants him to treat it as 'brainstorming session'. He is confused if he will be evaluated because recruiter didn't say so and e-mail mentions the same. Is this a common practice? Any advice?

Yes its just an interview prep (conference call) with other candidates. They go over what you should expect for onsite loop (LPs, STAR method) and other FAQs. Pretty generic and its voluntary. I didnt even say one word when I during the call.

I hire for Amazon India, never heard of practice sessions. I think it's about recruiter making the candidates comfortable and familiar with the process.
Don't think it's part of evaluation criteria.
