Solutions Engineer (Tech Sales) Confluent OTE $225K RSU $230K MuleSoft OTE $258K RSU $65K
Is that yearly RSU?
Stay away from Mulesoft.
Can't speak for the companies themselves, but as far as product goes Kafka is pretty great for what it does while Mulesoft is overpriced piece of crap. Their sales team must be pretty good though because they sell it as something that data analyst can work with for cheaper than devs while in reality you need Java devs with Mulesoft-specific knowledge.
OP, can you elaborate on the interview process? Do they have leetcode style interview rounds, or focus primarily on system design skills?
Both were fairly similar in the number of rounds, ending with a panel. Both very easy from the technical point of view, more focused on soft skills, like presentation, objection handling, team work, etc. Remember this is for a tech sales position, not software engineer.
Thank you! Agreed, but the word on the street is that hot startups require coding skills even for presales engineers (eg Stripe, Databricks etc)
Not sure where all this negativity is coming from. I have been at MuleSoft a little over a year and am loving it. Plenty of SEs here with a long tenure.
MuleSoft had a rough patch according to Business Insider news. I would stay away.
Yeah rumor is that Mulesoft got decimated by Salesforce's new "vertical" alignment. Was hearing horror stories from the Mulesoft team before I left SF. I guess they're having a terrible time hitting quota now.
I heard the same thing
Location?
You get almost 4x RSUs with way more upside for confluent stock than CRM… easy choice imo
Are these Field or Inside Sales Roles, or Sales Engineer offers?
Sales Engineer, they both called Solutions Engineer.
