Israel prevents Palestinians from gathering rainwater? Seems wrong on so many levels to me
I recently started a 6 month contract to hire role at DSS through a third party recruiter (has a reasonable reputation from searching). Since the jump was 50%+ in total compensation it felt like a no-brainer. According to the recruiter the rate of conversion has been 80-90% and can happen as early as 3 months. Although this firm has been very upfront about everything, I frankly am not inclined to believe them out of an abundance of caution. For those in DSS or Hulu side is an explicit contract to hire common or do you expect the rug to be pulled from under me? If it lends any credence to either side the tech stack is entirely new to me (which I've been transparent about through the process), leading me to believe at a minimum the inclination is to work with me longer term. I also have high confidence that I can perform above/equal to the expectations of this role (P3). (Despite the company name I'm a US citizen) YOE: 5 TC: 175k (remote LCOL) #tech #disney #contractor #remote #hulu #disneystreamingservices
conversion is more likely if you are not 100% remote. make sure when you do get an offer that you negotiate for more. you will have a lot of leverage as someone that requires 0 onboarding time/resources
Depends on your manager. I have been working there for 8 months and still a contractor. Also, is not a great company for PMs. I’m looking outside. And a lot of people are also leaving. It just a great opportunity for Sr. directors and above.
Thanks for sharing, in your case was it explicitly contract to hire with a set time period that got exceeded, or was it a contract with the possibility of extension?
I just got a new job. DSS Director told me it’s 18 months.
OP I was in the exact same boat in DSS. Took a pay bump to about 200k annually on contract and now I am being converted to full time. Message me directly for any questions you have a fantastic shot relative to your team and manager in becoming an FTE .
Conversion is high but I’ve never seen it happen in less than 6 mos. Usually takes at least a year.
