How is software engineer position in MCP team at Ciena More concerned about work life balance and Job security.. Also they don't use spring boot..they use Guava and Guice, which i think doesn't has great future ahead Is it sinking because we have Cisco, T-labs etc already as a competition YOE: 3 Profile: Java developer
Also, can you please suggest for some tech and projects here...are they good development projects.. because they are not using spring boot or any other new frameworks.. which i feel might be a disadvantage
Blind tax?
Does ciena give RSUs? I heard they started giving RSUs in offer...
Thankyou for your comment..for me No RSU are provided
why do you say so?
Nobody wants to work with male chauvinistic pigs.
Can you please guide a more about it, does this team doesn't have good work, or work life balance, or bad culture, or bad people in team/manager
Its not a sinking ship as cisco is not their direct competition as such... They are big in Optical and now pivoting themselves into Packet networking. They are getting some traction in packet space in North America. Only problem is they are too focussed on North America.Major market share is from USA. For any vendor that could turn into red flag. They also move lot of people from India to Canada so if thats your plan in future then it would be good stepping stone.
I am so surprised that people can sound so confident when they don't even know what they are saying. 🤣
Thankyou for your time and reply...it was mentioned at Glassdoor that mainly due to restructure of heirarchy, they have layoffs..it it true..and taken into consideration?
Its still small company compared to other vendors so reorgs happens quite a time. So minor layoffs are okay... Last time Blueplanet division was hit by layoffs... But its pretty chill company. Everyone i know over there ave great WLB and some of them working there more than 5 years. Its not a growth company just so keep in mind.
@qwest.. thank you for your comment and opinion about Ciena
Work-life balance is twofold - you have the ability to work whenever, however and have Unlimited PTO but you need to deliver, so up to you how you work (depends on team you are joining). If you can get your work done 3 days a week, you can take it easy the rest of the week - doesn't happen all the time given the amount of work but pretty fulfilling I'd say. They also closed the company twice last year - a mid-year break and a year-end break so you can really disconnect. Job Security in India is good because most of the jobs are coming there. YOE: 9
Thankyou for your reply..and also they have some permanent remote policy as well..i am not sure whether it is manager dependent or how it is
