I just had multiple cousins who couldn’t get a job in India (went to a noname school) who came here and studied in a 3rd tier school, who end up getting jobs at premier places like amazon and Intuit. Are they really that good, or is the bar just really low in the US? If I have poor cousins, should I just sponsor their education and get them here, and it will work out? Btw they all made the H1B lottery. Good for them.
I’m am one of those people in question. Yes, I came to the US, got a decent job and then worked my way and have a really nice pay and on my way to greencard.
Hey oath - not sure what your vanity pedestal is. I am happy that folks who didn’t have as many opportunities in India can find a ‘decent’ job here and live a solid middle class life. I want to sponsor 3-4 relatives from India to come here. That’s it
I’m sorry, I misread your original post and thought that you were complaining. I take it back. Apologies again.
No problem. Note I said decent because of Silicon Valley housing issues
India is a shit hole when it comes to finding a job. A lot of politics and snobbish people trying to reject you for no reason. I was trying for Microsoft, Morgan Stanley in India. All I got the reject email with no attempt to even interview with them. One of these firms did mention that they only hire people from Indian Ivy Leagues. To my surprise same thing happened when I applied for internship at Infosys. US is much better place if you are above average and can work hard.
I attempted to leave the US this year and applied all over the world .I got interviews in France ,Germany ,Netherlands but not one single one in India .The only viable way to get a good job in India is either infra company transfer or go back and slog it out in the rate race again .
How many years of experience do you have?
There are too many snobs in India thinking they are the shit. It's something about our culture. We love looking down on others and we are quick to judge.
Well that’s a fact. Many people who wouldn’t find a half decent job in Bangalore come to the USA get good for nothing degree from San Jose Stare University and land decent job.
Follow up, what is a inexpensive university where it’s easy to get admitted to, and still not so hard to find a job. Perhaps San Jose state
Yes, San Jose state, really good learning if u choose right courses
It's simple. India has a fuckton of devs & wannabe devs. No idea about the actual stats, but it seems that at least 60-70% new grads end up in the tech Industry. Compared to that decent Dev jobs are scarce. Hence companies can afford to be picky.
True. I've seen a lot of my friends who can barely code but are rich enough to pay for education here and manage to secure at least some basic job here. Some openly admit the biggest reason is because they know they're no match to the Indian rat race for securing jobs. Amazon is pretty damn easy to get in as a new grad.
You don’t need to code to make money in tech companies...
