Any pointers to cure eczema for 4 yr kid? Allergist visits are not helping much, meds are kinda more of patch work, once stopped skin gets back to itchy and flare up 😐.
Zinc ointment
Any particular brand/ointment name ?
Boudreaux’s butt paste - red bottle/tube for diaper rash. You won’t miss it in the pharmacy OTC
Do you have water softener at home? Try calling Culligan and do some testing and see if your water is too hard. That actually helped my family.
Nope, but will do a test. Thx
There’s a cream called Triamcinolone, use it until the effected areas are gone, and then continue to use it for 3-5 days. Can also try salt water baths at night.
It didn’t helped so we tried mometasone furoate , steroid one . It did helped but only for 1 week, we can’t use it longer because of side effects.
What !!! This is the kind of advice one could get sued for. “triamcinolone acetonide” is a VERY STRONG corticosteroid. You will harm the baby in many ways - but I can give you by experience that It results in heavy skin thinning in adults. I know from eczema experience for years that trimico is last resort for folks who develop steroid resistance to eczema, moreover that stuff is not otc. DONT do steroids
Try a dermatologist.
Get big tubs of CeraVe from Costco, apply generously and frequently.
Buying right now 🙂 thanks
4 yr kid? I'm struggling with Eczama myself being a 30 yr adult. It started a few years ago and I went to dermatologist and was told I'm having atopic dermititis and was prescribed some steroids, which are effective if applied daily. Once I stopped, the itchy and irritation come back immediately. I guess I'll rely on steroids for the rest of my life :(
Which part of the body ? If not the face try coal tar, and with steroids you have to apply generously for some extended time with breaks. Try turmeric
What’s the bath routine? Americans generally wash our kids too frequently, which dries out their skin. People also add things like bubble bath or bath bombs that does the same. Best solution for our kiddo was bathing every 2-3 days and putting a scoop of baking soda in the water. We would use aquaphor if it got irritated, and prescription strength hydrocortisone if it got really irritated. Also, eczema has some corollary to other allergies (nuts/peanuts), so make sure to have the allergist test for that as well.
I was also of the same belief but allergist mentioned bathing in 2-3 days gap is old study and you should give bath daily and then moisturize. He is allergic to egg whites which we avoid strictly so I don’t think eczema is getting triggered because of allergy
Def go with doc recommendation. My comment on eczema with other allergies is that it is correlation, not causation. Some studies have been investigating whether it’s an autoimmune disorder, which could cause both.
Try cold water humidifier. Not the hot boiling humidifier.
How did you get a JPMorgan email kid? Try coconut oil that's my mom's recommendation for literally everything
Tried coconut and castor oil both but didn’t helped much.
