“Elite” or “top performing” or “renowned” might be another way to say it. Jay has said several times in all hands that we are “elite performers at an elite company” IIRC. And we call ourselves “the world’s Kafka experts.” These are all sentiments which are in the same vein as “prestige” in my mind. I wouldn’t tell someone to go away just because they are attracted to prestige.
I think OP is making a wise long term move to look for a company that has a strong reputation (and hopefully deserves it), rather than look for the top salary like a mercenary.
I work for Confluent now. It’s the best thing could happen to my career. Money is good. But more importantly I’m being productive and happy.
