L4 Uber, 284K TC, mandatory in-office for 3 days/week SDE2 Course Hero, 258K TC, remote flexible YOE: 4 Current TC: 🥜 Both offers with high impact and growth potential. Culture and WLB seems better at Course Hero from what I can tell. #uber #coursehero #tech
TIL there is a company called course hero. For the last 10 years, I have seen so many start ups do some variation of this and go nowhere. So if it were me, I would just join Uber. But hey, who knows, this might be the real deal.
Coursehero is already profitable and growing over the last 12 years. It may be little known compared to Uber, but it still has potential
Good to know. Cheers.
The only point in joining a private company that's offering less tc is for the equity upside. I say uber for brand value and tech
TC at SAP? Joining SAP soon so just wanna know if I am getting shafted

From having a friend that works at Course Hero, it does seem like WLB is good (I've heard mixed things about Uber, seems to depend on team). But they're a senior engineer and basically have work handed to them in small pieces. I wouldn't count on growing much in terms of design skills, leadership, project management, etc, if you go there. Also it's still basically all php, if that matters to you. It's definitely the "safe" pick in terms of it being very unlikely to be totally awful, but I wouldn't expect rapid career or skill growth there. Also not totally sure about their wfh policy, but at this point it does seem like it probably won't be _worse_ than Uber's, so whatever.
Can you refer me to SAP?
What did you end up choosing?
Looks like the opportunist vanished
Whats the tc breakdown at CH?
Course Hero is a Series B startup so the equity is likely worth $0. Uber is publicly traded and you can sell your equity for cash.
Course Hero has liquidity events, so employees can sell their options via tender offers IIRC
@NDOg57 any idea what most recent liquidity event had their share valued at?
