What companies are leading the way on this project?
Not really possible to lead the way until battery tech improves. Or put another way, battery companies are leading the way
If you consider faa certification wise, Joby aviation is leading... as aircraft itself, kitty hawk and uber elevate partners are right by it. Magnix working hard for engine TC. TBH, electric airplane is pretty far out...
Any insight into Jobys cert project? What are they up to?
Sorry I can’t really give details as that’s proprietary information, but they are marching along the TC... for electric vehicle, they are furthest along in cert... of course, that doesn’t mean they will complete within 3yr TC timeline... Unless the company has tons of experienced resources and get things delegated like in Boeing, 3 yrs is really unrealistic timeframe... Just look at how other large companies get their TC with DERs... Do you work in cert side?
Currently the hybrid electric and gas system needs to come first. Pratt and Whitney is working on developing that.
Bell Helicopter (Textron)
Airbus has E-FanX, Vahana, and Zephyr which are all electric aircrafts
