I crunched the numbers, I've been actively interviewing for 45+ days so far, not even 2mths, but I feel very exhausted mentally/emotionally and depressed. I am honestly very surprised how my interview stamina got depleted so quickly. Originally, I thought I can keep fighting till Nov, and if I don't get anything I can come back again in Jan...but I swear the last 45 days felt more like 6mths to me and I'm not sure if I can survive till Nov. Applied to 100 companies, phone screens with 35+ companies, completed 5 on-sites, 3 offers, another 8 more on-sites coming up in the next few weeks. Still haven't hit TC $200k yet, you can prob tell that none of my offers are FAANG, FAANG-like, or TC-rich unicorns :( Please help if you have good coping mechanisms. I'm serious!!! I feel that no matter how much I prep there will be another question or thing that will throw me off. No offense to the MSFT/Amazon people who always say your interview standard is shit and all sorts of jokers get in. Objectively I've done very well career wise, accomplishing big shit even when I have substandard team/resources... Fuck I don't believe that I am worse than the average worker at MSFT/Amazon!!!
Get laid.
Before you started your search, did you have a goal in mind? Aside from getting the highest TC you can?
Yes I have a min TC trigger that I will be happy. Also to move to a tech hub. None of the conditions have been met.
Maybe you need to adjust your TC goal
Searching since 1 year :'(
religiously exercise (1 hr) and meditate (headspace app is good start) - this should help you. otherwise anxiety and stress will take a massive toll on you. fyi - i have been thru what you are going through
I think you doing it wrong. As in, why interview with so many companies whose offers don't excite you. Do 250 Leetcode questions and actually try to understand logic behind every question, don't look at the solution and type it in. Do a couple of passes with some input and understand why the control flow in the program has been written that way. Once you have enough practice to understand the patterns behind the questions, you'll have enough confidence. And if direct FAANG doesn't work, move to a relatively better company and then do a switch in 6 months. Focus and persistence are the key.
$200k TC isn't even guaranteed with FAANG. Those who do get 200 are surely outliers of outliers. The standard (no negotiation) Google offer for new grads this year is: Base: 105k Bonus: 15% Stock 90k / 4 years
This. I hit 200k tc after 4 years of work.
The other point of “interviews standards are shit and all sorts of jokers get in” is that high quality candidates get rejected. Happens all the time!!
Everyday I feel like stopping living.. Not only because no one calls me for Interviews but because my current job sucks.. Despite being from a top 5 school in US, I haven't been able to land an offer.. Reason : current Job has sucked life out of me. I lost all my skill set due to being out of touch.. I work in operations where most people don't have college degrees (not trying to say you need a degree to be smart) but all folks making 20-30$ an hour.. I'm make more Than my manager and that makes him even more of an asshole to me.. I can just say hold on.. There's some hope. Your situation is obviously very bad. And I know this means nothing to you.. But don't aim for a Tc.. Instead a company which will make you happy.. I know it sounds hollow.. Believe me Tc is important.. But take something which will make you happy atleast temporarily.. You're obviously burned out.. It'll burn you out even more if you do end up getting a high Tc job which makes you more unhappy
Sleep is the key. Try to keep exercising. I stopped drinking and going out as well so I could focus more.

Stop comparing yourself to others so much and just do the best you can. Blind will not help with that. Search for your own happiness. Don’t chase the happiness of others.
