Asking for a friend My friend recently joined Infosys with Apple as client. After 3 weeks and interviews with 2 teams at apple, Infosys told that Apple is looking for more experienced people. Now infosys told they will try to look for different companies but also told that after 45 days HR will call and enquire about why are they not able to get projects. they are employed in Cupertino currently. is there any maximum time without project after which infosys might fire them? They are ios developer. Whats best solution for the candidate to get out of thiw situation? friend YOE: 0.5 friend TC: 120k
Companies like TCS, Infy, or Accenture do this all the time. They hire a bunch of randoms and shove them at clients to see what sticks. Many go to bench and train until they either get a project or get laid off. It sounds stupid, but they earn enough from workers that they can burn money on failed hires. What I don't know is if they give severance, you know, because worker rights in the US suck.
What a shitty situation to be in damn. All these coolie IT companies should be removed from the face of the earth.

Friends have had, but different country, no Visa worries plus better job laws so they at least get a nice severance package. It could be luck, it would help to practice how to do interviews, maybe your friend is good at what the client wants but can't communicate well. Unfortunately these jobs on those companies are designed for high attrition and firing.
Not sure how it is now, but recently Infosys laid off a bunch of people who were on the bench and they stopped. It’s such a crappy situation to be in, whether it’s an allocation issue or skill’s issue your friend should be fine for a month or 2 in the usual case. Again not sure how it is now I was on the bench for a month once and I have seen people on the bench for over a year so I don’t think it’s an issue. The safest way your friend can take is connect with project managers and get whatever tech project they can get but that can also come with slow learning growth. Hope this was helpful
Yes, this is what consultant companies do. In TCS India, we have a group called Resource Management Group(RMG) who you are tagged to . They help you get into projects if you are on bench(without any project) . You continue giving interviews to client companies until they select and find u fit in the role they need. This is the case with most consultant companies. So, please do ask your friend to contact the ones who allocate project at Infy. He might have to continue giving interviews to other clients until he finds a project. Connect and ask friends if there is any requirements in their projects. But I also heard that Infosys counts the number of attempts you give interview to clients beyond which you will be deemed as no more good enough. I'm not sure of this though.
