Employee background check

Full disclosure-i’m working for a startup in NYC that takes advantage of foreigners & junior engineers that are just looking for work experience. We are not getting paid, even though we have clients, because the company is so much in debt. The CEO treats me very well because I take on work of an entire team of engineers all by myself. We don’t even have a formal payroll system in place, which also means 0 benefits whatsoever. I do NOT want to take legal action even if I’m 100% in the right so please do not comment on that. I still learned a lot, and without formal education, this work experience brought on a lot of interviews, so in that way this experience had been a blessing in disguise. Trying to stay positive people. Now I have another offer but am really worried about the employment background check. I have a full time contract with salary posted (though I’ve only been paid once as a “contractor”), am on the company website, have a company email, listed company name on linkedin, etc. BUT that probably won’t show up on my background check, will it? If it doesn’t, will the other company let me know and give me the opportunity to explain myself? What should I do? How do employers normally verify your work history? Edit: those of you bashing my lack of TC... My company needs to be verified, and maybe that’s why i don’t have a place to input my TC. Also, as I said, I don’t get paid... but my contract says 100K.

I do not have most of my companies in my background check. They will usually ask w2/payslips/if they can contact somebody or any other evidences.

I don’t have w2 because i’m not even categorized as a full time employee. I believe i was the only one paid, granted that was only once... So if you don’t have companies, does the new company usually come back and ask you what’s up?

That's fine until you can give them anything.

Why don't you just tell them the truth? You did it here. They're

I didn’t want to badmouth my employer during interviews so I didn’t bring it up and didn’t use that as a reason for why I want to leave. If they give me the opportunity to explain myself, i will definitely be honest but feel like it’s weird bringing it up when no one asked

DXC Technology jimgle Jul 28, 2018

It is weird to bring it up but it's only weird because most people wouldn't be that straightforward and honest

No TC? GTFO!

I don’t get any compensation. It’s 100K on my contract but i have been paid once... also, my company is still being verified and i don’t know where to input my tc.

also i don’t see anyone’s tc. Where do i click to see that?

Google KissMyPiss Jul 27, 2018

OP already changed usernames? The fuck?

I would suggest you change yours as nobody wants to kiss your piss. I tried changing my username and seeing where I can put in my TC. I tried playing around with everything but nothing worked. I tried changing it back but i can only do it once. I wasn’t ashamed of this post or haven’t posted indecent comments on this app, so there’s no reason for me to hide behind another username. I came back and posted with my new username, have i not?

Kiss your piss??? Lol what the hell is that supposed to mean 😂

Lyft barbaz Jul 27, 2018

So your TC is.... 0?

Dmp Jul 27, 2018

Didn’t i say this in my post already... yes i wasn’t receiving compensation at all while i was working

Lyft barbaz Jul 27, 2018

Sorry I just am trolling. Sometimes I can't help it

Is that even legal to say you are getting paid $X while not paying at all? Sounds super sketchy of them start up or not. I have, however worked for a startup in the past where a few key people took zero salary for stock instead. You could also spin as an internship. You did do work and have learned and grew in experience. I had to submit W2s for my background check at eBay. This could be problematic for you if you stated you made money but have no proof.
