How do you invest your personal savings? I imagine that working in the finance field, you have a much better understanding of the best decisions on how to invest your money. If you work at a finance company, mind explaining how you invest your money and how you decided to do so?
I have 15 years of experience working at several of the top hedge funds in the world; I have expert level knowledge in the micro-structure of equity and credit markets; I've designed high frequency trading systems; I can write a pricing engine for any vanilla derivative without even having to open a reference book ....... and yet for my personal account, I just buy index stock funds. None of that knowledge really tells you what to buy for your personal account. Very few people in finance really know how to invest their personal account well -- even if you're an expert in (for instance) selecting good mortgage bonds, you don't want to buy many mortgage bonds in your personal account because that's too correlated to your day job and you need to diversify your portfolio (if the mortgage bond market tanks, you'd lose your personal account and also likely get fired from your job on the same day). Besides, your employer usually won't let you trade the product you specialize in anyway because they don't want any conflicts of interest or front running. So your best off just indexing.

S&P500 index fund. Don't overthink it unless you have a lot of money and need to take tax considerations into account.
two words: funko pops.
Employees at GS and JPM aren’t allowed to invest in anything outside of Index funds or unregulated assets. Getting preclearance for a single-name stock trade is a pain in the ass. That’s what you get for working at a regulated bank. Diversification increases your EV. Index funds give you that for free, without any of the hassle. VTSAX and VTIAX for me.
Can you trade options or non equity?
Think we can trade commodities... personally haven’t had interest in doing so. We can buy crypto or other unregulated assets. Otherwise, it requires pre-clearance from compliance. We also have to disclose all of our investment accounts
Surprisingly most of my colleagues at JP Morgan would invest mainly in real estate and not in the financial markets.

Most people working in finance have a limited knowledge of investing. That’s the only relevant field to your question. IT guys are completely clueless in particular, even accountants are usually light
