I have currently worked as a hardware engineer (EDA) for 1.5 years. However, looking at the overall tc, HW < SW long term, now I have decided to switch to software. Is this a good choice switching? If yes, do I try to transfer internally or apply elsewhere. In terms of compensation, I'll time my exit to get rsu and espp wouldn't matter because the price won't double in the next year or so.
I have been having same sort of thoughts even after 7 yrs in HW. Problem is only A n G have good TC with A having no work life balance.
I agree with Twitter that switching internally might be a more logical next step. It should be easier to do and u can build/ enhance skills and change to a SW company later
You mean only A n G for HW right? For SW, I guess any tier 3 company will beat Nvidia. And even then HW IC5 TC == SW IC 4
Hi was wondering if you made the switch?
what’s HW long term and SW long term? I see many SWEs not doing so well. HWs should pay good right? G / A offer good tc.
