Finally after 12 years of visas, I got my green card yesterday. At this moment I want to take a break from work for a month or 2 and not do anything.. However I am not sure if this small break of a month or two will be considered as risky if I decide to buy a house? ( before I plan to buy a house I would get back in either fte or contract role) to be employed again but concerned whether this break/gap of month and no pay stubs will be a red flag for a bank? Been with Uber for 5years and have been continuously employed since last 10 years.. #housing
Depends on your assets as well as the mortgage amount. As a general rule, though, its risky as lenders can use your employment status to determine loan eligibility up to the day of closing. Wouldn't risk it if I were in your shoes.
Thanks!! Point noted
They ask paystubs for the last 3 months and employment verification. One lender said I shouldn’t change job or sell house within next 6 months after closing. Might be better to take a break after buying, or you change your mind after all the process :)
Thanks!!
Keep your job until you finish house buying.
Thanks
