im interviewing at a few companies for an engineering manager role. At Tableau I still code around 30-50% of the time - will i be anle to code at Google and Airbnb as a manager? Also what should I expect in my loops - recruiter told me light coding, behavioral and design - do I need to brush up on Leetcode medium/hard?
Same at Airbnb. You probably won’t have any time to code. Not sure about the interview process though.
YOE, TC op ?
You should let it go if you truly want be an Eng Manager. Personally I got tired of dealing with people’s issues and got back into coding as an IC
May want to look for TLM role at Google
Read somewhere, Airbnb needs senior IC level skills for EMs.
As an Eng Manager at Google, you're unlikely to get much time to code. Some managers are able to squeeze some in, but it's rare.
Thanks, I’ve found a nice balance, but even at Tableau I’m a bit rare, most managers here code less than me.
What team are you on @FSnE78?
