How much does engineering managers outside of top tier FANG/Microsoft like companies make? Please post your total YoE experience along with manager YoE. Salesforce/creditkarma/eBay and such are all welcome. Sorry I can’t reveal my current company but it is in Bay Area. I myself have total 10 years and 3 as manager for a dev team of 8. My TC is 200k. I know I’m underpaid at least according to Blind. Trying to understand what I should target. Info on these type of companies is rare on blind.
I am underpaid too.
My manager makes about 200K Tc but I know technical architects at 350K
Did ur manager tell you his/her salary?
175-275k.
150k at about 10 YOE. Non-programmer and I am underpaid.
How can you manage effectively with a non technical background? Curious, not meant to be sardonic.
Valid question as I have seen non-technical managers. In my case I do have an extensive technical background in engineering, just not software. SWE's (and by extension their managers) get paid very well so I wanted to clarify why my salary is lower than other answers.
You can do 250-300 at big banks but not too sure about the west coast
Note that 1st tier managers like team lead usually only get a small bump in their salary. It's only when you become a 2nd tier manager (manager of managers/tls) the salary gets a bump.
Id say 250-300k including bonuses is pretty common for non fang.
I guess there is not much difference in base but there is significant bump in rsu and performance bonus
Can you be specific on the total compensation please?
Should be able to get 250+ at workday
Where do you live? I was making a bit under 80k in the Midwest where my manager was making 95k (9 reports, 15 yoe) before moving to Seattle and nearly tripling my TC.
I live in the east Bay Area.
