Engineering w/ remote flexibility

Just wondering how many companies allow some remote flexibility each week for engineers? Seems the majority don't allow much if any. Tagged a few of interest. Would've tagged Chewy if they really had much presence yet.

Mozilla has a great remote policy. Many colleagues are entirely remote. It really depends on the team a bit.

Honestly, I'd say 90% here on the east coast. I'd imagine west coast would be even more. I mean, typically employers like schedules. Nobody likes the guy who you never know where he is because he randomly works from home for no reason.

Autodesk is pretty good. We have quite a few eng who are entirely remote. I'm not an eng but our team has two WFH days per week.

A lot of the good companies do. Prove your coding is on point and you get to work remotely.

Completely agree

Hubspot is very flexible. Lots of folks work from home once or twice a week or to varying degrees. Somewhat depends on your manager. Company as a whole is experimenting w more remote people and teams and figuring out how to support it better. Product team is generally very friendly for remote work.

Very true

We rarely do.

In my experience Spotify is incredibly flexible about working remote if you need to be at home or even working remotely while traveling, but it also depends on team.

If you've built up trust from your team and have a unique circumstance (long commute, kids with hectic schedules) working remote a few times per week is no problem in a lot of teams. We probably wouldn't hire someone to work mostly remote right away. Our teams aren't set up for those situations and the remote worker would probably end up feeling left out.

Which companies allow remote work and pay the same comp? I mean $300-500k for a senior.

Oracle is pretty good for WFH

I think most places that say “no WFH” will let you if you prove yourself capable. Organizational rules may also be ignored by your manager so really I think it is team dependent.
