147 base / 200 rsu / 40 sign-on

Ms+ 6yoe.
Business analyst/ integrator role.
Numbers seem underwhelming compared to what most people get on blind. Recruiter says this is the final offer. Can i still negotiate after svp approval?

I am currently making 100k base in florida, living the high life with 0% state income taxes. I am not sure if it is worth it to move to the bay area on that salary. Lifestyle wise i prefer florida; but google is google.

Higher numbers are for engineers. Not your role. You are getting a decent offer.

Go there for a year and then move back to Florida

  • I am doing something similar. Moving from a comfortable job in San Diego to a better brand company in New York.

What helped me make my decision was that eventually I would have to move out of San Diego one day as I have ambitions to earn more and work in a bigger company.

The Florida life is good I’m sure. But take this chance and experience a different city.
And like you said - it’s Google. You can move anywhere after that.

@OP - do you work with big brand name currently? That would weigh in if you need goog on your resume or not.

Online calculator says 100k salary in florida should be 190-260k in the bay area :/. Companies in florida pay 65-80K median so 100k is a lot there.

Online calculators are worthless. Pay is low in Florida because successful companies are not in Florida. COL is high in certain areas because salaries are high in said area, not the other way around. Also, talent is not equally distributed geographically, rather it’s concentrated in high COL areas. So the jobs aren’t comparable. Most Floridians who make 80k in Florida would make 80k in SF.

OP that's a pretty good offer, I see why they wouldn't go higher.

Your quality of life will definitely take a huge hit, but just go for 2 years just for the reputation on your resume. You can also consider asking them to team place you in Seattle where there is 0% state income taxes.

    • Why would life take a hit

Life will take a hit because the new salary in the Bay area will place him right around the middle income range. I think his current income in Florida is probably around upper middle income.

But then, please do your own calculations for how much you want to spend on things important to you.

200k, you will live comfortably in the bay. My base is 150, I don't sell my RSUs and I live very comfortably in my own apartment.
