Got an offer from LinkedIn for SWE. 22L(base)+$32k/4 year(RSU)+ 10% annual bonus. TC comes to ~30LPA according to some rough calc. Is there room for improvement ? Most likely I'll also get to keep my current unvested Msft stock (around $40k). With that included TC will probably be around 38LPA. Current TC~26-27LPA(accounting in stock growth), 2.5 YOE.
Do Needful
Are you in India ? Or moving from US ?
Looks good for SDE2. Did you try Amazon? They’d pay slightly higher TC. But then LinkedIn has a much better culture.
Failed Amazon onsite 😑. Any idea how much higher Amazon goes for SDE2 with 2-3 yoe ?
If you perform well and badass negotiate then goes to 35 lpa else 30 lpa is standard. LI 30 lpa + peace is better than Amzn 35 without peace. What was Amzn interview feedback? What was the reason?
Good offer
OMG, am I so outdated? Or Indian salaries have jumped leaps and bounds? I used to get 11lpa with 7 YOE 4-5 years back. Or I was underpaid like hell? Or is it only companies like LI, Amazon, MS, Google?
Tech salary boom is not restricted to the Bay, you know. That being said, non big name companies don't pay much even now.
Tech companies are paying a lot. At 7 years experience you could easily pull in north of 50 lpa at Apple, Uber, Amazon, Salesforce, Microsoft
Rolled out an offer of 44L TC to SDE-2 yesterday in Amazon India
I suppose I won't feel as bad in case I have to go back to India. These are great offers.
Can you explain more on keeping the msft unvested stock comment you made? Afaik msft and li are two different entities (though stock is common) and moving from one to another entails formally resigning from msft and joining li. If it really is true, does it apply in the bay?
Afaik your unvested stock remains intact when moving from MSFT<->LI, & this is true worldwide. Recruiter verbally confirmed, but I'll still double check. And you don't need to formally resign. I was told MSFT HR would take care of it.
Interesting. I would still be skeptical about it as the pay would be too much including the old rsus. Please let us know once you confirm.
Try Amazon or uber and make more money
You're transferring from MSFT to LinkedIn?
Considering it.
Current MSFT level? 61?
