Hello, Basically, I need info on RSU refresh at Amazon after staying there for 2-3 years. Why ? Because I am Evaluating an offer I got from Amazon vs Current Microsoft offer. Microsoft base + perf bonus = Amazon base. Plus Microsoft has annual stocks refresh, this is balanced by Amazon’s joining bonus for the first two years, and then by initial stock grant for the next two years. That said I’ll be making a little bit more for the next 4 years in Amazon. Microsoft base: 63k Microsoft cash bonus : 10% ( Total cash = 73.7k) Microsoft initial stock: 25k (not yet vested) will be lost. Annual stock bonus: 10k vest over 5 years Amazon base: 73k Amazon joining bonus: (14k y1, 11 k y2) Amazon initial stock: 50k vested as ( 5% 15% 40% 40%) Annual stock bonus : ?? (Don’t know how much) vest over 2 years. (Not US based figures) The question is: Does Amazon give more stocks that would vest in the 5th year and so on or is there a possibility of seeing you compensation go down ? At in my division at Microsoft they are downsizing, whereas in the division I’ll be working at Amazon, they are looking to grow by 10 times in the next three years which I feel means lots of opportunities. I do not work in the coolest projects at Microsoft and it is kind off boring but at Amazon I’ll be working on of the high risk project which would change people’s lives. I am leaning towards Amazon but I am a little skeptic about the compensation w.r.t. the stock refresh. Will be joining from Software Engineer II L62 -> SDE - II L5 With around 7 years of experience. Your division is downsizing... Compensation should be the least of your problems.
Agreed :) but I am not based in the US but rather in some country where firing is not easy. So it is done by freezing the hiring and using the churn for sometime.
Usually they do, not certain myself but they promise that your next year tc is better than previous year... of course based on performance review.

The numbers would not make sense as I am not based in the US, so the compensation is works differently.
