Hi guys. I am an engineer with 12+ YOE, most recently employed at Uber. My entire team was cut in the September round of layoffs. Since then, I've been enjoying some time off (the severance was pretty good), but also preparing hard for interviews. I've completed 200+ LeetCode problems (mostly medium and hard) and read Designing Data Intensive Applications cover-to-cover (great book). I'm seeking a senior backend engineering position in the Boulder, CO area. I've already got interviews lined up at most of the nearby big tech companies, but I'm not getting much traction at Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, VMware, and Workday. Can I please get a referral? Here is my repher link: https://repher.me/r/-LzZ0A7VWn6O-EynN7IQ
If you are interested in Splunk, DM me.
I already have a technical screen at Splunk setup for tomorrow. Thanks, though.
If you don’t mind me asking, why not transfer to other teams within Uber in Louisville? I’ve been seeing backend engineer roles in Uber freight being advertised for a while now. Good luck with the search!
If Uber Louisville reached out to me for such a role, I'd consider it, even though I'm not very bullish on the company any more. I don't think any of the laid-off staff have boomeranged thus far. Company policy, maybe? I don't know how that works.
Dm me your mail id for referral
Had the same experience with Microsoft despite having a referral. IMO their recruiting dept is sluggish. Find a manager on LinkedIn for the division you are interested in and cold email them. That will accelerate things for you.
What level are you at Uber? Do you have any roles at Microsoft you’re interested in? I can refer you if you’re still looking for a M referral. Let me know.
I was an L4 at Uber. I applied to this job, and one other: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/1690901343/ And yes, I'm still looking for a referral. I'll DM you.
Our team is hiring, DM if interested.
Sure, I'll DM you.
I can do for salesforce
Cool, I'll DM you.
Any tips on how to go about reading the book Designing Data Intensive Applications?
It was a slow read for me. I'd do a few sections at a time, and then take a break to ruminate on what I'd read. It contains a LOT of big ideas, and it covers them at a pretty rapid pace. I read the chapters on transaction isolation and concensus twice.
Read part 1 then part 2 and finally part 3. Then you can use it as a reference when needed.
