Is a referral from very senior leadership at a top firm a guaranteed interview? Specifically, I’m targeting Netflix, Snap, Google, and MBB consulting firms.
Do it and let us know? 🙄
Also send my resume and tell them we come as a package deal
Ha. You got it.
No. Unless that executive is the hiring manager for the role you are looking for and they believe you are the ideal fit for the position. Otherwise, all hiring managers are free to make their own decisions, regardless of where the resume came from.
Top ten worldwide MBA, ex big 4 and I have an in with the highest of leadership so thank you for the response. Nice to level set expectations. Makes sense about autonomy for hiring managers to make the call.
I understand that you’ve got a pedigree but that might not be what the HM is looking for. I strongly recommend applying for roles you are not only interested in but can excel at. Sometimes that’s at a level you would deem lower than you should apply for. But don’t focus on the title. Focus on the responsibilities and your contribution. If you are a compelling candidate that fits what the HM is looking for, they will reach out. I was a random applicant via their website. I was hired. Most of my team came through random applicants.
For an internal referral you'll at least get a contact from the recruiter, even if just to tell you it's not a fit.
MBB it’ll get your resume viewed.. but you still have to pass the case like everybody else.
The Resume would get a good review. Nothing guaranteed beyond that.
