Expected compensation for workday P4?

Expecting offer from Workday as P4 (sr software engr). What should I expect? Is it fair to expect 180k?

180k as base or total?

Base. What is a good/reasonable total comp?

Workday HIO Dec 5, 2017

180k base is at the very top of P4 band and it’s very unlikely you will get that much. As mentioned in a few previous threads, 150-160k base / 120k RSU / 4yrs would be standard P4 offer if you don’t have competing offer and not coming from high paying public companies/unicorns . Notice that Workday does have generous RSU refresher but no cash bonus. YMMV and team depending of course.

Strong base. Top of the band.

We get annual stock bonuses for low-bar targets. You can try to negotiate a signing bonus if you haven’t yet, may need a counter.

Thanks. There's also already signing bonus and sizeable RSU. I'm strongly inclined to take it given how much growth it promises but will wait for another offer from south bay company to come in before deciding.

180k base, 20k sign on, 200k rsu. Should I go for it?

Ummm...absolutely!

Thanks. As I pass by 680x580 there's this building being built. Is that also Workday?

Workday LittleπŸš€πŸ‘¨ Dec 9, 2017

Yep. New Dev building. Should be awesome.

Yes that is also workdays building and parking structure. A word to the wise, Workday's "unlimited PTO" is not actually unlimited. I'm sure the recruiter told you it is, but you better get it in writing. I tried to take off 10 days in January and 1) my boss asks me how can I take off that much time when I'm already taking off 5 days for Christmas? Are you kidding me?! 2) tells me before the unlimited PTO policy, people only ~22 days, so if I take off those 10 days, I'll only have 12 days left. 3) that I should have requested 3 months in advance (requested only 1) 4) asked why I'm taking off the time as they don't usually left you take off more than a week "unless you're getting married or graduating or going to India" Clearly I'm biased and I have a shitty manager ( a lot of middle management at Workday sucks due to lack of training and just subpar people skills), but forget about money for a second and evaluate if another offer or a future offer at a different company might be better. I know I wish I would have waited before accepting.

Thanks for the warning. I did discuss with the manager and at least he seems ok FOR NOW.. But of course we all know there's no such thing as unlimited, right? So did u ask the boss why he thinks 10 days in Jan isn't possible? Did s/he have concerns about you not finishing up work? Maybe it's a legit concern? BTW, which group are you in?

Also, why do u stick around if your manager is such a pain? Is it not easy to find other positions?
