How has been your experience after coming on L1 B. Considering limitations with switching companies. But more opportunities to grow in same company. Did it in any way impact growth in career ? Switching to H1 B for moving to other companies but uncertainty around visa. Switching to GC may be via managerial path ? Also considering spouse working options on L1 B. New experience with relocation to US. How do you see move considering all aspects ?
How long has it been for you?
My wife and I moved to the US on my L1B. She was able to work with her L2 EAD and we eventually got our GC through her employer as my employer took a long time to start the process. My spouse employer tried multiple times to get her a H1B but that was unsuccessful. Career wise I was promoted but that actually complicated my L1 renewal, changing job title can be troublesome. It was stressful at times between the delays to get EAD’s renewals for my spouse and not being able to move to another company even though I really wanted to but I don’t regret doing it.
How many years does it take to get a GC on an L1B?
I was on L1B. Experience is good. Took 3 years to get GC.
Non indian?
Yes. I just did the needful.

I originally came to the US on an L1. My spouse was able to work for any company, it took a while for the paperwork but it did eventually come through. We started the process of conversion to green card, which was expensive with the immigration lawyers but we were very nervous about some of issues surround L1 and being in a right to work state.
Did you go for GC process directly from L1B?
you can go to GC rom L1B
