What is wrong with California Auto companies?
Recruiters are giving me verbal offers.(Rivian, Lucid, woven)
Nobody has given me official offer letter. Each Recruiter is saying say that you are joining and we will give you written offer letter.

Is this how California auto companies do?

Written letter comes after accepting the offer verbally.

And after negotiation is done. Nobody will send you 10 versions of letters during negotiation.

  • Yep it's pretty common. I've found that it works well to just email them confirming the details of the offer and use that if the other companies are asking for proof. However I've found that most auto companies don't even bother asking for proof of competing offers. Ymmv

  • It’s how a lot of, if not all, companies do it. They won’t bother sending you an official offer till you verbally accept

Cuz they’re lazy and don’t want to draft a letter till they know it’ll be win for them to close on it

  • It’s not just Auto companies, pretty much all tech is the same and no one gives out offer letters these days until everything is final. Not to plug my company but we also have an office in Santa Barbara (SoCal), you might want to check them out as well
