F1 -> H1B in 2018, tax advice needed

I was an F1 student till Dec 18th last year and then transitioned to h1b on Dec 19th. Can I still use sprint tax to file as a non resident for the entire year?

I also sold stock options in May 2018 and gave etrade a W8 BEN form. Was that the right form for my status? Hoping to get advice from people who've sold stock while they were still in F1 status before. Indian citizen.

      I have no idea. I feel like people hear non resident alien and indian citizen and Jack up the prices. Nothing too crazy, don't own a home or anything. Just visa transfer and stock option exercise in the whole year..Do you know how to go about finding one?

    +1. Why do ppl seek tax advice on Blind? If I answered yes to all of your questions with some bs logic, would you consider it?

      If you think you're being helpful you should reconsider posting on threads just to bash and be an unhelpful ass. Thanks for suggesting hr block though, couldn't have found that out by myself /s

    You should be on H1B since 1st October? And not December also read about first year choice. Google is your friend and there are many cpas under $200 to cover these type of cases.

      Due to delays in H1B processing, if the approval comes after Oct 1st, you're effectively in H1 status from the date mentioned on the approval notice. It seems like the price I was quoted was way more than everyone pays here so I'll Google some more. Thanks!
