For those of you who have filed taxes for an internship on CPT, is the filing process any different compared to filing on OPT? I heard from some past CPT interns that you get all your withholdings back (basically 0% tax).
That’s not right. He is either not earning the bare minimum to get taxed
Either sprintax or 1040nra.com
That's not true. Refund varies on your country of citizenship, and the treaties that the US has with them. It also depends on your state, and any other part time on campus roles you do. Best to file it on sprintax first to see your refund and then do it yourself.
My country does have an income tax treaty but I can't seem to find how that applies to CPT. But yeah Sprintax seems to be the way to go, thanks!
If your country has a treaty, some part of the income you earn would be exempt from taxes. This would result in a higher refund
