Is it normal to throw paper towels / toilet paper / random shit on the floor vs the trash can?!

I am sick and tired of seeing restrooms covered with trash by the end of the day. And this is true of about every company I ve been working at so far.

So, I wonder how come people that are smart enough to get to a nice tech company are not able to put their shit into the trash can?

Because they went from mom's house to college to cushy tech jobs and never had to clean up after themselves

  • One answer to all of these complaints. Cultural Diversity. You go to a "non-diverse" company and these issues aren't there. Not saying we shouldn't be culturally diverse, but it does make the bathrooms a bit more third world than in other parts of the country.

    • @zimride, a non-diverse company in this case would be one with a lack of H1B workers.

    • It's not just with bathrooms. Different cultures have different attitudes about trash in general, some of which has to do with whether they have people that clean up the mess. For example, in China, it's common for people to just throw trash on sidewalks and roads because they have people whose job is to clean that up mess (sadly, it's mostly their old people that have these jobs). And because of this, it's not uncommon to see Chinese tourists throw shit on the ground when visiting other countries. I assume it's the same with India.

  • I believe this is only a problem at Lyft. All bathrooms are spotless here... haha nah, not really, I swear some guys would just as happily take a dump on the floor.

    • You should lookup the osha regs on number of toilets per gender.

Someone brought that up at amazon and they started converting spare space to extra men's rooms eventually.

it's brought up often, but it's on a building by building basis. Sometimes they ask the complainers to give up headcount for bathrooms, other times they say walk to another building, sometimes they actually do something about it. it can get rather heated.
