Are any of them really that different? I've been successful at Amazon for a while now and from everything I've read the only reason to jump ship is if you give a shit about the product another company is working on. Obviously a raise is beneficial, but i find it pretty underwhelming that people are asking if they should switch companies for 20k if they are already making 200k +. If someone offered me 300k Id take it but at this level the difference between 230k and 250k after taxes is laughable. We all want to make more money and build influential software. Question to all of you is--do you wanna homie hop from place to place for pennies? TC 230K SDE 2
I think most people would jump if it's 25%-35%+
If it involves an international relocation and family, how much would that min % become ?
You mean culture at Amazon is same as Google? I would say this comparison is laughable. Comparing bananas with other fruits. 😛
How is your wlb and stress levels at Amazon?
Perfectly fine, actually.
Compensation can change significantly across companies! That’s easily the biggest reason to jump aside from getting out of a bad team.
It makes a huge difference, you are forgetting the refrehsers and the bonus which you get from g/fb/apple/unicorns. People get paid much more at G everyone at least gets 15% bonus and in some teams of Ads 20% I really hate their frugality culture of Amazob eg the healthy free food at these companies is 10k pre tax I interviewed at Cupertino and there was not even a paid cafeteria so for someone who is single it sucks. I just feel that Amazon doesnt treat swe well compared to G/FB. The average swe is better at fb/g because of consistent hiring committee.
I heard food is crap at FB. Just sayin
