I'm currently a mechanical engineer in the automotive field in the Midwest, and would like to move to the Bay Area. Automotive is limited to Tesla, Rivian and Lucid as far as I know so I may need to switch industry. Has anyone done any Product Design, Mechanical design or manufacturing design interviews in any of the major tech companies? Some feedback on what you guys have been asked or how to better improve myself would be appreciated.
Get some data science classes like basic python programming and basic stat, ml, sql and you would have a more prosperous life here at bay area. By prosperous i mainly mean TC otherwise life sucks here with a bunch of weirdos talking about cloud startups in coffee shops 24/7.
I know some basic python, but that's about it. I'd much rather do design work than code. As for the weirdos you must have the wrong hobbies if you're always stuck in a coffee shop, but to each his own.
How about joining ATG, Cruise or some other self-driving car/truck company?
I wasn't familiar with ATG, I will look into them. I completely forgot about Cruise also have my eye on Waymo. Thanks for the feedback I'll research more on what other self-driving companies are out here
Zoox as well. All the more relevant to your background that they are building their own vehicle.
