FB Contingent worker under Accenture- insane

Hey All, I recently talked to someone that works at FB under Accenture. This is the first time I heard these ridiculous company rules that they imposed on contingent workers like: 1. Very strict 8-5pm work hours - given that shuttles are minimal in some areas plus traffic 2. Laptop cant be taken home 3. Poor management treatment - 0% transparency. Bs promises, and many more. Lack of appreciation, and felt like they are treated like kids. Fyi, program managers (ftes) imposed most of the rules. List goes on... I can’t imagine working for a company (FB) that does not equally treat people that works on the site. Even though they are technically contractual, since they work closely with FTEs, shouldn’t they be treated equally as ftes? I am not even talking about the benefits and compensation here. I am not even talking about the content review workers, but this directly to a product where 90% of FB’s revenue comes from. I just cant fathom how can this be possible... it’s just demoralizing if people will only know the everyday struggle that these workers experience. It feels so awkward that I have all these perks, and they dont? I literally work with them side by side. I feel like Vendor managers are being pushed by FB’s standards. CWs seems to be all just numbers and data -not human.

You also work at FB . Have you not experienced this first hand ? Though I personally don't agree to this discrimination it seems very rampant in the US especially with Desi managers

I dont experience poor treatment with my company. Managers are awesome and they promote WLB pretty well. However, hearing the contractual folks that I work with, makes me feel awkward that I enjoy all these perks but they dont? They play a big role into one of our products.....although some of them may be replaceable thats not an excuse to treat them less

This has been a huge issue at Facebook and Google for a while. Contingent workers are mostly treated as second class citizens.

Facebook treehouse3 OP Sep 4, 2019

That part really sucks. I can’t appreciate my perks if I know one of the co-workers does not enjoy what I have. Like dude, don’t vendor managers feel that these kind of stuff? Probably its all about metrics and numbers

Microsoft invented treating contingent workers as second class citizens. Of course, losing the famous contingent worker lawsuit contributed signicantly to that. The company had to pay out a huge sum because it was argued the contingent workers should have received full time employee comp because they were treated the same.

Called a TVC temporary vendor contingent. I actually have gotten a lot of contracts job offers at google with a staffing company. It's insane to me how they dont offer health insurance. Like am I going to work at the mines c'mon. Theres a lot of news articles about this google tvc google. Some article said almost half of workers at Google are tvc. In that case this is inexcusable for such a rich company.

Thats modern day slavery. I am not even talking about they pay and benefits here. Mostly just how they get treated... this is ridiculous.

I think a lot of companies treat their contingent tvc workforce the same way. They are like second class citizens that are told that they are not a full time employee only a temp. I really dont like how demeaning ppl can be. "You are only an intern here". Its one thing to get a job, but another to find a great group of people. Unfortunately it is not as common as it should be at least in my experience.

Yes have heard miserable stories from Visa and many other companies ..the legal obligation part of not entitling them to certain lunch or events is understandable but the way they get 'exploited ' and piled with tasks when FTE takes all his PTO is insane. have seen those guys work insane hrs and also over weekends doing mundane tasks like upgrades etc

Facebook treehouse3 OP Sep 4, 2019

Thats 100% true. Don’t pay them high enough, fine since its within the boundary of the law anyway. However treating them like second class citizens? Thats beyond disgusting

Accenture KmAH78 Sep 4, 2019

We're used to it... Most of us are just happy to have a client site that isn't a windowless dungeon with box fans in it

Facebook treehouse3 OP Sep 4, 2019

This is the sad reality. People should fight these types of bs. I cannot work with a company that doesn’t share the values and integrity that I have. All I have is to see equal opportunity and rights for everyone. Random question: do they pay you enough? Based on the market rate for your role?

Accenture KmAH78 Sep 4, 2019

I get paid pretty well mostly due to leveraging competing offers for comp matches. TC = 260k

This isn't FB necessarily but a contract between FB and preferred vendor Accenture. They don't fuck around with info sec

Amazon TheStreets Sep 4, 2019

And if you are good, Accenture pays bank

Amazon TheStreets Sep 4, 2019

But the flip side is anxiety of being canned for no reason, no job security and being treated like you are replaceable by total dolts

Facebook dosanos Sep 4, 2019

How are they treated like second class citizens? Some stories would be nice

Facebook treehouse3 OP Sep 5, 2019

Based from what I heard, program managers and Accenture’s management are just treating them like kids. We all know our work culture is pretty flexible, right? But then, they dont have that. Plus they are stuck with their chairs and not allowed to go anywhere else. Very strict 8-5am time schedule, given that they are already underpaid. If they are late, they are forced to use pto as the alternative missing that hour. Lol ridiculous. Plus shuttles are very limited for them as well. Not really sure but sounds like vendor managers are pushing them just so they have their perf bonuses by the end of the year. CWs are just metrics and numbers to them

Facebook treehouse3 OP Sep 5, 2019

My biggest take on this, is just to treat them as our equal. If we have these perks, and expectations, then why not give them that too? Fire them or put them to pip if performance is low. Just basic human decency is what I would like to see.
