The Google lounge likes to talk about how things are better at FB. Better perks, more autonomy, faster promo. Is the grass greener on the other side? What does FB think about G?

  • Higher tier don’t discuss lower tiers at their lounge. I assumed FB gets lots of favorable mention at Oracle lounge but the reverse is not true.
With lower pay and slower promo, Google is sliding towards oracle and ibm.

Some possible symptoms for decaying environment could be PM overpowering engineers or shitty projects are approved to gain impact without any vision or conflicting vision (I am just guessing)

@bpluss agree with you. Facebook is slowly falling into that. Empire building is becoming more prevalent. Earlier, failures used to be openly discussed. Now CYA tactics are growing. Top down decision making has become the norm in some groups.

Except better wlb, I haven’t seen FB folks talking much about Google. TC bump from FB is more towards Snap.

  • Of all the internal blind lounges I've seen, FB lounge is the most tame since all career discussions happen in public (but internal) work groups. Best is when I've seen someone post something on blind and then get yelled at for not discussing in the work group directly

It's actually nice that blind doesn't need to really exist for fb since people openly discuss things in work groups already

Downside is it's boring without juicy gossip, but probably for the best

I've seen a poll a while ago. It was like who would go to G, if your TC were to stay the same. 75% said they'd stay at FB due to career growth and RSU refreshers.

What does this prove though? It’s a safe assumption that majority of FB or G employees would want to stay at their current company otherwise the attrition rate at both companies would be much higher than it is currently
