Completed my onsite at FB today. Did well in Stats, Applied data product, Product interpretation but messed up the SQL coding interview. Are there chances of getting an offer with 3 good and 1 bad interview. Anyone who had been in the same boat as me?
No one is perfect. Have you met mark? Most down to earth dude ever, just wants to understand. Never worked with him professionally, but I think if you acknowledge your mistake and possibly offer a solution that might be a good solution. But some hr ppl might disagree.
Wut
In school I was a fan of stats/Data analysis. Used software for math back then I don’t remember the names but I think stata comes to mind. Would love to know more about what’s going on in that realm again, but as a hobby.
No , only thing analyst do is write sql
What did they ask you that you messed up?
That’s about what happened to me. They had me return for a tie-breaker round, hired me, and I’ve been here for about 4 years since.
If you did horribly, no. If you were marginal they might do a follow up. Since you will be doing so much SQL there really should be more than one interview in it. 2 of my 5 were for SWE.
What's your background? Trying to gage what kind of background it takes for a ds analytics role
I have a master's degree in Stats with 5 years experience in Analytics
On a scale of one to “this would make a good comedy skit of how not to interview”, how much did you mess up the SQL question?
Well I was able to finally figure it out after I initially misinterpreted what the interviewer was looking for. The interviewer did give me a hint. I am pretty much not expecting an offer given the talent pool but would be pleasantly surprised if they give an offer or ask for a follow up interview
Did you respond to the hint in the interview? Did you adjust and fix during the interview because of the hint?
