which one is a better choice after grad school (phd)? FB is in the research team and Snap is in eng team. Snap TC: 360 FB TC: 260
360 LA or 260 Menlo Park?
Obviously I work at Facebook but I’d still take the Facebook offer. The difference in offers right now is $100k. That’s not a lot of money in the big picture. I think there’s a relatively strong argument that your professional growth at Facebook Research over X years could net you more than $100k in future offers. Just my two cents.
I'd take Snap, living in LA is a million times more enjoyable than the bay area, plus your pay is better
360k in LA sounds really nice
Go after the money. If you can get in now, you can get in later.
Top 4 PhD program is a thing? Sounds pretty dumb
FB > Snap in terms of financial stability
So how did it go?
I would say spend some time in FB one/teo years get the brand name of working at FB research and then you can work anywhere you want. Unless you have a PhD from top 4 in that case choose the better team
360 out of PhD I think he has the prestige already
I have phd from top 4, and the better team is at FB. But the money is tempting. I’m trying to convince myself that in the long run research in fb is a better choice but not sure about that.
